Ryan Horwath

Twenty years in Alaska's seafood industry taught me that the hardest problems aren't technical — they're systemic. Fragmented data, opaque supply chains, and tools built for corporations, not operators. I build software that fixes that.

Pacific Cloud Seafoods // Founded

Hook-and-Line, Direct to Consumer

Pacific Cloud Seafoods is a jig and line-caught direct-to-consumer seafood company. We connect Alaskan small-boat fishermen directly to consumers who value traceability, quality, and sustainable catch methods.

Every fish is caught by hand. We work with independent fishermen in Alaska who use hook-and-line, jig, and troll methods that target individual fish with minimal bycatch and habitat impact.

The company exists because the current commodity seafood system obscures where your fish comes from, how it was caught, and who caught it. We believe consumers deserve to know.

Advocacy // Fisheries Reform

For Sustainable Fisheries

Bycatch and habitat impact remain significant challenges in U.S. fisheries. These issues cause real ecological damage and real economic harm to small-boat fishermen and coastal communities.

Ryan is an active advocate for fisheries reform — engaging with the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) and amplifying the voices of independent fishermen who are directly impacted by industrial fishing practices.

Building for the Industry

The fishing industry runs on paper, spreadsheets, and tribal knowledge. Ryan builds software tools that help small and mid-scale fishing businesses operate more effectively.

What's Next

From Fishing Docks to Fintech

After two decades running Pacific Cloud Seafoods, I'm applying everything I've learned about small business operations to a new challenge: building Frankie-Ledger, an AI-powered financial management tool for business owners who need clarity without complexity.

The thread connecting all my work is the same: making opaque systems transparent and giving operators better tools. Whether it's a fisherman tracking yield costs or a shop owner understanding cash flow, the problem is the same — and so is the approach.
